In Dushanbe President Serzh Sargsyan participated at the 20th anniversary summit of CIS

Today, in Dushanbe President Serzh Sargsyan met with the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon. The two Presidents hailed relations between the two countries and cooperation in different areas. At the meeting discussed were issues pertinent to the deepening of bilateral, as well as multilateral relations in the framework of international organizations, including the CIS.

After the meeting with the President of Tajikistan, President Sargsyan participated at the 20th anniversary summit which was attended by the Presidents of eight countries out of eleven CIS member states – Armenia, Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Moldova, and Tajikistan.

After the CIS Council meeting in the restricted format, there took place the meeting of the delegations in the extended format. At the meeting discussed were issues related to the cooperation of the member states in the areas of security, migration, culture and a dozen of other issues; the parties signed a number of documents.

Among the key issues on the agenda of the summit was the analytical Report on the Results and Perspective Issues of the Twenty Years of the CIS Activities, which reflected on the experience of the twenty-year experience of the Organization on security, economy, humanitarian and other priority issues, and further steps for future development and strengthening of the CIS.

The Heads of the CIS states exchanged views on the key issues of the international agenda.

Today, the delegation headed by President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan will conclude its working visit to Tajikistan and return to Yerevan.
