President receives delegation headed by Co-Chair of Armenian-Russian Inter-Parliamentary Commission Nikolai Ryzhkov

President Serzh Sargsyan today received a delegation headed by the member of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation and Co-Chair of the Armenian-Russian Inter-Parliamentary Commission Nikolai Ryzhkov. The delegation has arrived in Armenia to take part in the 25th session of the Inter-Parliamentary Commission for Cooperation between the RA National Assembly and the RF Federal Assembly. The Armenian President welcomed the guests and underscored that he was sure the session of the inter-parliamentary commission held in Yerevan would set the stage for further strengthening strategic partnership between Armenia and Russia. Serzh Sargsyan highly appreciated Nikolai Ryzhkov’s personal contribution to development of inter-allied relations between the RA and the RF and promotion of inter-parliamentary ties playing a key role in those relations.

Nikolai Ryzhkov thanked President Serzh Sargsyan for the reception and kind words and underlined that during sessions of the inter-parliamentary commission held in Yerevan and Moscow on a regular basis contemporary issues of mutual concern are discussed target at further deepening high-level interstate relations. He expressed satisfaction with the results of the 25th session of the commission.

At the meeting the interlocutors also touched upon preparatory works aimed at discussion and ratification of the agreement of October 10 on Armenia’s accession to the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) Treaty both in the RA and RF legislatures and exchanged views on possibilities and prospects of promoting collaboration between Armenia and Russia within the framework of the EEU. The parties stressed that various individuals and media representatives are free to discuss and criticize that process, present their approaches which is quite typical of open societies but it is obvious that the decision stems from the interests of the two countries: the integration processes are targeted at further reinforcing relations, making EEU member states stronger and boosting their prosperity.
