President receives delegation headed by Vice-President of Czech Senate Zdeněk Škromach

President Serzh Sargsyan received today the delegation headed by Zdeněk Škromach, the Vice-President of the Senate of the Czech Republic.

Greeting the guest, the president greatly appreciated his personal contribution to the reinforcement of friendship between Armenia and the Czech Republic. Serzh Sargsyan expressed his gratitude to Zdeněk Škromach, as well as to all the members of the Czech parliamentary delegation, who had participated in the Armenian Genocide Centennial events held in Yerevan on April 24 this year. Serzh Sargsyan also thanked the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Chamber of Deputies for adopting the resolution on the Armenian Genocide unanimously.

Armenia’s president expressed the hope that the visit of the vice-president of the Czech Senate will give a fresh impulse to further deepening relations between the Armenian and Czech peoples and promoting inter-parliamentary ties. Serzh Sargsyan attached great importance to the role of parliamentary diplomacy to promote interstate relations in both bilateral and multilateral formats and expressed satisfaction with the fact that many of the Czech deputies effectively cooperate with the members of the Armenian delegation in the Council of Europe.

Zdeněk Škromach said that it was a great honor for him and for the Czech deputies to visit Armenia on the Armenian Genocide Centennial and stand beside the Armenian people on those April days. He expressed confidence that the two states will continue to strengthen their cooperation at various levels, e.g. presidential, parliamentary, governmental.

At the meeting, the interlocutors also reflected upon the opportunities to promote trade and economic collaboration between Armenia and the Czech Republic, the process of RA constitutional amendments, regional problems and challenges, including the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process.
