The President of Armenia received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Iraq to Armenia Ghazi Taher Khaled who is concluding his mission in our country.

The President thanked the Ambassador for the efforts during his tenure aimed at the development and strengthening of the Armenian-Iraqi relations and wished him every success in his future endeavors.

The President of Armenia noted with satisfaction that in recent years relations between the two countries have registered considerable progress – embassies are functioning in both countries, political dialogue has become more active, and the economic and trade relations are on the rise which allowed to increased the turnover between the two countries. The interlocutors concurred that achievements mentioned about testify to the reciprocal readiness and resolve to deepen and expand the bilateral cooperation.

The President wished a speedy establishment of peace and stability in Iraq. The President of Armenia and Ambassador of Iraq also highly valued bilateral cooperation in the framework of international organizations.

Ambassador Khaled expressed gratitude for appreciation and good wishes and noted that it was a great honor for him to serve in Armenia – an ancient country with rich history. He said that here he has acquired great experience and many good friends.

The Iraqi Ambassador assured the President of Armenia that regardless of his future diplomatic activities, he will always remain Armenia’s friend.
