President Serzh Sargsyan met with the participants of the Young Scientists Assistance Program

President Serzh Sargsyan met today with the participants and responsible officials of the Young Scientists Assistance Program.

Young scientists presented to Serzh Sargsyan works carried out in the 2015-2016 period of activities of the Program, programs of cooperation and compared them with those of the previous year. They also spoke about the future works and expectations. The summary report of the Young Scientists Assistance Program included eight main directions: international scientific secondment of young scientists, conferences, symposiums, financial assistance to the organization of seminars, scientific grants, financial assistance for publication of the books authored by young scientists, financial assistance for the acquisition of scientific equipment and/or materials, financial assistance for publication in the influential scientific periodicals of the scientific articles of young scientists, organization of scientific contests and lecturing of the scientists of the Armenian descent.

After listening to the report, President Sargsyan asked the scientists if the provided assistance was useful and how the young scientists assess the efficiency of the implemented programs. The participants of the meeting thanked the President for the consistent assistance and encouragement and underscored that thanks to the implemented programs, the engagement of the young people with science becomes more and more interesting by year which is also testified to by the number of the applicants for the competitions.

President Sargsyan noted that the objective of the Young Scientists Assistance Program is to promote scientific advancement and to augment this area with new cadre as well as to assist the young scientists of the Republic in their creative development, create opportunities to establish contacts with their peers abroad, to familiarize with the global scientific developments and news.
Serzh Sargsyan stressed also the importance of encouraging achievements which can be useful in securing certain advancement within the country and in parallel with the development of fundamental sciences encourage the utilization of the scientific projects.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the President of Armenia handed Letters of Commendation to the participants of the Young Scientists Assistance Program.
