President Serzh Sargsyan attends EPP extended summit in Brussels


President Serzh Sargsyan, who is paying a working visit to the Kingdom of Belgium, attended today the enlarged summit of the European People’s Party (EPP) in Brussels, which was chaired by EPP President Joseph Daul.

The summit was attended by President of Council of Europe Donald Tusk, European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker and President of European Parliament Antonio Tajani, as well as the heads of State and government representing the political parties of EPP- and Eastern Partnership-member States.

The summit reviewed preparations for the meeting of the European Council, which is set to focus on the imperative of addressing the fundamental causes behind migration. In addition to key agenda items, the EPP summit discussed the situation in the Western Balkans.

President Serzh Sargsyan delivered a speech at the summit with reference made to the parliamentary elections in Armenia, the progress made so far, the cooperation between the European Union and Armenia and the need to ensure stability and security in the South Caucasus region.
