President Receives CSTO Secretary General

President Serzh Sargsyan received Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization Yuri Khachaturov, who had been visiting Armenia for the first time after his appointment to this post. The interlocutors discussed issues of preserving peace, stability and security in the CSTO responsibility zone and the South Caucasus, in particular.

Noting that this year marks the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Collective Security Treaty and the 15th anniversary of the founding of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, President Sargsyan said these anniversaries are a good chance to take a retrospective look and outline the path for further development. Serzh Sargsyan stressed the importance of successful implementation of the CSTO Collective Security Strategy until 2025, which was adopted last year in Yerevan.

Thankful for the reception, the CSTO Secretary General briefed the Armenian President on his organization’s recent activities and events. The sides took the opportunity to exchange views on topical regional and international issues.
