Newly appointed Mali Ambassador hands credentials to RA President

Today, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Mali to the Republic of Armenia Tiefing Konate (residence in Moscow) presented his credentials to RA President Serzh Sargsyan. Congratulating the Ambassador on his appointment, the President of Armenia wished him every success in his diplomatic mission.

Noting that Armenia attaches importance to political dialogue and contacts with the countries of the African region, including Mali, President Sargsyan underlined that the Armenian side is ready to explore the possibilities of multifaceted cooperation with Mali. Serzh Sargsyan noted that although diplomatic relations between the two countries were established 24 years ago, however, the interaction did not go beyond international platforms during this period.

Stressing that the geographical barriers are no longer an impediment to deepening relations between countries in the modern world, the President of Armenia expressed the hope that Ambassador Konate would help develop the Armenia-Mali bilateral relations.

The Ambassador of Mali and President Sargsyan agreed that independent Mali and Armenia have inherited serious challenges that call for efficacious efforts to counteract them and expressed confidence that both countries will overcome these challenges and build a good future.

Ambassador Konate thanked President Sargsyan for the reception, assuring that he would contribute to the development of interstate ties as far as possible.

Noting that he had conveyed to the President of Mali Serzh Sargsyan’s invitation to attend the Francophonie Summit in Yerevan this October, the Ambassador thanked the Armenian President for the invitation. The sides agreed that La Francophonie is another platform for the development of cooperation between Armenia and Mali.
