President receives IMF Dutch Sub-Group Executive Director

President Serzh Sargsyan received IMF Dutch Sub-Group Executive Director Anthony De Lannoy.

Greeting the guest, the President of Armenia highlighted the importance of Mr. De Lannoy’s visit, which comes in the run-up to the talks over the new program of cooperation with the IMF, and may be productive in terms of providing another opportunity to exchange views on future development programs, target areas, as well as on the emerging problems and challenges.

Noting that Armenia’s development strategy up till 2030 is being developed, the President stressed that the current visit and the Fund’s views and recommendations might be quite helpful in terms of finalizing the targets set out in the Strategy.

President Sargsyan hailed Armenia’s cooperation with the IMF over the past years, noting that the joint efforts of international financial institutions, including the IMF, have gone a long way toward promoting the reform process and increasing economic efficiency in Armenia.

Highly appreciative of the Fund’s cooperation and support, the President thanked Anthony De Lannoy for proper representation of Armenia’s interests in the IMF. Serzh Sargsyan assured of our country’s firm determination to implement the reforms and structural transformations specified in the previous program, which will be continued ahead.

Anthony De Lannoy praised the successful implementation of Armenia’s previous program with the Fund and expressed the hope that the next program would be developed and successfully implemented.

The parties agreed that economic growth should be inclusive in order to affect all the citizens of Armenia and, therefore, extra efforts should be made to that effect. Stressing that Armenia is proceeding along the right path, the IMF Executive Director expressed readiness to continue supporting Armenia’s economic development for the wellbeing of its citizens.
