President Armen Sarkissian expressed condolences on the demise of Ara Güler

I learned with great sorrow that one of the greatest chronologists of our times, Ara Güler has died.

His photographs were not just pictures, which the mechanical devise would capture with its indifferent and cold eye, but those of a passionate and penetrating glance of the artist which he spread on the world, articles and people and which turned the invisible into visible and the momentary into immortal.

I profoundly mourn the loss of this great man and express my deep condolences to his family, friends and thousands of his admirers in Armenia, Turkey, and all over the world.
