Presidents of Armenia and France participated at the presentation of the Aznavour Center project

President Armen Sarkissian and Mrs. Nouneh Sarkissian together with the President of France Emmanuel Macron and Mrs. Brigitte Macron participated today at the presentation of the Aznavour Center project at the Charles Aznavour residence in Yerevan.

The son of the great performer Nicola Aznavour, who is also the founder of the Aznavour Fund, and Director Christina Sargsyan presented the objectives of the Aznavour Center and areas of activities. It was noted that an interactive museum will be opened at the Center dedicated to the life and professional career of Charles Aznavour. The Center will also offer courses of movie making, music, and French language.

The two Presidents, together with their spouses and managers of the Fund toured the premise of the Center which will open its doors after an overall reconstruction.
Later, Presidents Armen Sarkissian and Emmanuel Macron made statements.

In his statement, the President of Armenia noted, in particular, that

“Aznavour was 100 percent French, 100 percent Armenia, and 100 percent a citizen of the world, he belonged to the whole world.

Dear Nicola,

On behalf of my wife, the family, on behalf of the entire Armenian nation and my own behalf I once again express our deepest condolences on this huge loss. Your father, who was a great poet, once noted philosophically that the life runs very fast: there is the birth and the death and the life between them.

However, I would like also to say that for the great poet, musician, the Artist that Aznavour was, there is one thing which is above it all – the second life after death. His second life started days ago.

The President of France and his spouse graciously hosted a beautiful ceremony in the memory of your father. It was a great event of decency, pride, and humanity – everything that your father was.

Thank you once again, Mr. President, for everything you, your wife and the French people have done to manifest your great affection and appreciation for Aznavour.
His second life has just started and it will continue into eternity. His second life will be eternal.

Today we are living a historic moment: we are looking at the future Aznavour Center, to Nicola’s future home, at the future home of France. I have no doubt that this Center will become a splendid center to spread in Armenia and beyond the French language and the French culture.”

President Sarkissian offered the President of France to join efforts and to organize in France and Armenia a fund-raising concert in the memory of Aznavour. The President expressed readiness to do his best to bring that idea to life and noted that the raised money will serve the purposes of the Aznavour Center.
