Congratulatory address by President Serzh Sargsyan on the occasion of Victory and Peace Day
"Dear Fellow Citizens,
Dear veterans of the Great Patriotic War and brothers-in-arms of the Artsakh liberation war,
I congratulate all of you on the occasion of Victory and Peace Day.
Victories are imprinted in the nations’ memory forever, and this day is one of the most brilliant pages on our calendar of festive dates. Today, we relate to our children and grandchildren about the valor and sacrifice of the talented Armenian military commanders and courageous soldiers, we recall that victory over fascism and hatred, won with the blood of our fathers and grandfathers, made it possible for all the nations of the world to build a peaceful and better life.
Indeed, it is the victories that inspire the generations for new heroic deeds. Seventeen years ago, Victory Day acquired a new meaning for us. In May of 1992, by liberating Shushi in the war, which was imposed on us, we proved once again that we are ready to defend with arms our values, freedom of our people, our independence, and our right to live in peace.
I congratulate all our veterans and freedom fighters, all sons and daughters of the Armenian nation, the people Armenia and Artsakh on the occasion of Victory and Peace Day. We bow to the lasting memory of our combat brothers who gave their lives for Motherland.
I once again congratulate all of us and wish us long-lasting peace and prosperity".
