President receives Russian energy minister Alexander Novak



President Serzh Sargsyan today received Russia’s energy minister Alexander Novak, President of the CIS Electrical Energy Council, who has arrived in Yerevan to take part in the 47th meeting of the council.

The president welcomed the guest to our country and attached importance to the Yerevan meeting of the CIS Electrical Energy Council which, according to Serzh Sargsyan, provides a good opportunity to discuss issues related to, inter alia, the development of bilateral relations, taking into account the fact that the energy sphere is among the key components of the Armenian-Russian strategic partnership.

Minister Alexander Novak thanked for the warm welcome and for organizing the meeting of the CIS Electrical Energy Council at a high level, expressing satisfaction with the effectiveness of the meeting during which, according to the minster, a number of issues crucial to the participating countries were discussed; e.g. parallel operation of energy systems, system integration, development of normative legal documents, exchange of experience.

At the meeting, the RA president and the RF energy minister discussed issues pertaining to the current stage of Armenia-Russia cooperation in the spheres of electrical energy, gas and nuclear energy and its further development.
