President receives Jordanian Higher Education and Scientific Research Minister Labib Khadra



President Serzh Sargsyan today received Labib Khadra, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

The president welcomed the guest to our country and spoke highly of programs aimed at deepening educational and scientific cooperation between Armenia and Jordan and of the document signed between the two countries’ respective agencies the previous day. Serzh Sargsyan expressed the hope that it will stimulate effective and coordinated cooperation in the area of education and science and will boost close bilateral ties.

Touching upon bilateral interstate relations, the Armenian president noted that our country seeks to intensify political dialogue and promote comprehensive collaboration with the friendly country of Jordan. Serzh Sargsyan expressed satisfaction with his official visit to Jordan in October 2014 and the sincere and constructive negotiations with King Abdullah II of Jordan, as well as with the subsequent high-level agreements which, according to the president, bear testimony to their mutual readiness to elevate the Armenian-Jordanian cooperation to a qualitatively new level.

Minister Labib Khadra thanked the RA president for the warm welcome and attached importance to the cooperation program signed with his Armenian counterpart, which he is sure will considerably contribute to the enhancement of bilateral relations in the areas of education and science and student exchanges, as well as to the promotion of scientific research cooperation.

At the meeting, the interlocutors placed importance on the role of the Armenian community in Jordan as a unique bridge facilitating friendly ties between the two countries.

The Armenian president thanked Jordanian authorities for participating in the events marking the Armenian Genocide Centennial in the person of the Amman mayor. On behalf of the Armenian people, Serzh Sargsyan also expressed his gratitude to the Arab people for granting asylum to some portion of our people who had survived the genocide. According to the president, the Armenian people always remember and highly value the Arab people’s humane attitude.
