Philippines’ newly-appointed ambassador to Armenia presents his credentials to president

Carlos D. Sorreta, the ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of the Republic of the Philippines to the Republic of Armenia (residence in Moscow), today handed over his credentials to President Serzh Sargsyan.

The president congratulated the ambassador on his appointment and expressed the hope that during his tenure he will make the most of his experience and abilities to develop Armenian-Philippine relations and strengthen friendship between the two peoples. Serzh Sargsyan stressed that Armenia is keen on intensifying political dialogue with the Philippines, enhance ties at inter-parliamentary and inter-governmental levels, and promote, inter alia, economic, cultural and scientific cooperation, where, according to Armenia’s president, there is plenty of work to do. The president attached importance to frequent contacts and reciprocal visits to stimulate multi-sectoral collaboration, which, according to him, will help to identify mutual interests and concerns, as well as will contribute to the adoption of positions to support each other within the frame of international organizations.

Ambassador Sorreta assured the president that he will try his best to develop Armenian-Philippine relations and informed the RA president that for that purpose, he had already had meetings in Armenia, in the meantime focusing on drafting possible bilateral agreements.

President Serzh Sargsyan wished the ambassador success in fulfilling his diplomatic duties in our country.
