President watches finals of Best Sporting Family-2015 competition

President Serzh Sargsyan watched today the finals of the 12th annual the Best Sporting Family-2015 competition conducted for the RA presidential award at the stadium of Tsaghkadzor General Sport Complex.

By the RA presidential directive of 4 June 2015, the competition has been divided into three parts - the Best Sporting Family-2015 competition which is being held from June to September, the Best Sporting Pre-School Establishment and the Best Disabled Athlete competitions which will be held in October.

2065 families or 6195 people from Artsakh, Yerevan and 10 marzes of the Republic of Armenia have participated in the first round of the Best Sporting Family-2015 competition. According to the organizers, more than 6000 children and disabled persons will take part in the Best Sporting Pre-School Establishment and the Best Disabled Athlete competitions to be held in October this year. All in all, the number of participants in the three competitions for the RA presidential award will exceed 12000 this year.

The Best Sporting Family-2015 competition was conducted in three rounds for four age groups in 6-7 sport categories. 144 families which had successfully passed all the preliminary stages appeared in the finals. 19 families from RA marzes, Yerevan and Artsakh, which include a disabled person, also entered the final round.

The Armenian president congratulated the winners of the competition, awarded them certificates, monetary prizes and souvenirs. In addition, cups were handed over to the heads of the delegations of Yerevan, the NKR and the RA marzes. The president also handed out encouraging gifts to all the children of the 144 families and of 19 families with disabilities who had entered the final round.

Serzh Sargsyan welcomed all the participants and winners of the Sporting Family competition and wished them further success. “It is obvious to all of us that participation is by itself already a success, but competition and struggle remain as are. Hence, it is worth tasting the delight of victory. And it is with great love and pleasure that I congratulate all the winners.

Every time addressing you, I say that besides making your family atmosphere more interesting, besides bringing up mentally and physically healthy children, you also do a good job of setting a an example. You are happy people because you represent solid families. It is impossible to take part in this large-scale event without solidarity, mutual support and a warm atmosphere. Thus, I would like to urge not only you, but also many others to engage in sports since mass sports is not solely healthiness - mass sports is able to change the atmosphere and people’s mood. Our life is comprised of big and small successes, big and small victories, and, of course, of big and small problems. There is nobody in the world who does not have problems. Problems can be addressed and are addressed, but life continues. I wish you vigor, I wish you further success. You are champions. I am very glad and grateful that you partake in these competitions with pleasure,” said RA President Serzh Sargsyan in his welcoming speech.
