Venezuela's newly-appointed ambassador presents his credentials to president

Juan Vicente Paredes Torrealba, the newly-appointed ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to the Republic of Armenia (residence in Moscow), handed over today his credentials to President Serzh Sargsyan.

The president congratulated the ambassador on his appointment and noted that Armenia attaches importance to the intensification of relations with Latin American countries, including Venezuela. Serzh Sargsyan expressed the hope that Mr. Vicente Paredes Torrealba will work towards intensifying bilateral interstate ties and preparing strong grounds for the development of cooperation.

The president wished the ambassador success in fulfilling his diplomatic duties in our country. Armenia's president attached weight to senior-level reciprocal visits to develop bilateral relations, as well as placed importance on the promotion of inter-parliamentary cooperation and the establishment of friendship groups in the Armenian and Venezuelan parliaments to this end.

Serzh Sargsyan spoke highly of Venezuela's position on the issues of vital importance to Armenia during discussions within the frames of international organizations and stressed the need to promote mutually beneficial cooperation in the UN and other organizations.

The president expressed his gratitude to the Venezuelan authorities and people for the recognition of the Armenian Genocide, mentioning that that step is of great importance to the Armenian people marking the Armenian Genocide Centennial, and that our people greatly appreciate it.

Venezuela's ambassador thanked the RA president for the congratulations and best wishes, assuring him that he has taken office with great responsibility and is greatly honored to start his diplomatic duties in Armenia, a country with an ancient and rich history and culture, holding the Armenian people in high regard.

The RA president and Venezuela's ambassador discussed the opportunities to develop bilateral interstate relations and to use the full potential of collaboration in different spheres.
