President Received the Chairman of the State Duma of the RF Federal Assembly

President Serzh Sargsyan received today the Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Vyacheslav Volodin, who has arrived to Armenia on official visit.

Welcoming the guest to our country and noting that this is the first meeting with Mr. Volodin after his election as Chairman of the State Duma, Serzh Sargsyan congratulated the guest and wished him every success.

Serzh Sargsyan expressed confidence that Mr. Volodin’s great experience in state service will bring its considerable contribution also to the development of the Armenian-Russian relations, and that his visit to Armenia will serve as a new impetus.

Noting that one month later, on April 3 the Republic of Armenia and the Russian Federation will commemorate the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, President Sargsyan said that each holiday presents an excellent opportunity to recap and assess the bilateral relations and pre-set the guidelines for the future.

The Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation also noted with satisfaction that in the framework of his visit the meetings with the members of the Armenian parliament are taking place on the eve of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. He said that the interstate relations are developing dynamically and there are many topics to discuss and summarize. Vyacheslav Volodin underscored that the members of the two parliaments are planning to expand relations and the framework of cooperation. Towards that end, Chairs of the State Duma commissions present in the delegation will meet and get acquainted with their Armenian colleagues and will discuss issues of mutual interest. The Chairman of the State Duma stressed the importance of the works aimed at the development of the bilateral relations at the regional level.

In the strengthening of the interstate relations, the President of Armenia and the Chairman of the State Duma underlined the importance of the parliamentary diplomacy and underscored the necessity to constantly deepen the interparliamentary ties.
