Minister of health reported to the President on the structural changes at the Ministry and programs implemented in the area of health care

Today, at the working meeting with the President of Armenia, the Minister of Health Levon Altunian reported on the structural changes in the area and programs aimed at the resolution of the priority issues.

Along with the implemented and ongoing programs, Minister Altunian presented also works aimed at ensuring financial monitoring and transparency, activities undertaken by the Ministry for the introduction of the electronic medical system, the mechanism of providing state employees with the medical insurance package which includes hospital services, works aimed at the introduction of a centralized system of procurement by the medical institutions of medical supplies and medicine in the framework of the state provided insurance, which, according to the Minister, along with enhancing the high-level medical services, will also become a new and efficient mechanism for procurement.

The Minister of Health also reported to the President on the steps aimed at the improvement of medical care and services, advancing treatment results through the use of the best foreign practices, translation and localization of clinical handbooks, and protocols of the patient treatment.

Levon Altunian also informed that the Ministry has developed the concept and the timetable for the introduction of telemedicine in Armenia. He assured that aim-oriented programs for making a number of medical services more accessible have already been developed and implemented. He added that the works to reduce maternal death and improve obstetric care are also underway.

At the meeting, the President of Armenia and Minister of Health spoke also about the program of modernization of rural hospitals.

President Sargsyan gave Minister Altunian pertinent instructions.
