Acting Minister of Agriculture reported to the President on the reforms and the ongoing programs

At the meeting with the President of Armenia, the Acting Minister of Agriculture Ignaty Arakelian reported today on the structural changes undertaken at the Ministry as well as the priority issues in the area of agriculture, and the ongoing state assisted and goal-oriented programs.

Ignaty Arakelian informed that this year works on supplying the farmers with affordable fertilizers, diesel fuel, seeds and subsidized loans have been continued. Also, savings allowed to kick off new programs aimed at the development of the area.
The President directed to boost programs aimed at the enhancement of the exports of competitive agricultural products, to substitute imported agricultural machinery with the locally manufactured equipment, modernization of the existing agricultural equipment, leasing of the agricultarul machinery to conduct agricultural works, as well as implementation of the programs aimed at boosting the farmers’ income and higher work efficiency.

The Acting Minister was also instructed to develop target programs with a precise timetable and to continue works on drip irrigation system, provide farmers with affordable resources to introduce a net of anti-hail systems, and carry out enhanced programs for the creation of intensе gardens.

At the meeting with the President of Armenia, Ignaty Arakelian informed on the programs implemented by the grape and wine fund of Armena which will promote development in the areas of grape cultivation and wine production, improve the quality of wine, make Armenian wines more recognizable, and foster their exports.

The report of the Acting Minister included also information on the introduction of ensurance system, regulation of the processing cycle, implementation of the forestry programs as well as the results of the ongoing and future programs aimed at the preservation and efficient use of the fish stock and crayfish in the basin of the Lake Sevan, husbandry issues, and works on seed production.

On the reported issues, the President of Armenia assigned the Acting Minister of Agriculture with a number of relevant tasks.
