Newly appointed Mexico Ambassador hands credentials to RA President

Today, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Mexican States to the Republic of Armenia Norma Bertha Pensado Moreno (residence in Moscow) presented her credentials to RA President Serzh Sargsyan.

Congratulating the Ambassador on appointment, the President of Armenia expressed the hope that through active and fruitful efforts she might help strengthen and develop cooperation between Armenia and Mexico. President Sargsyan noted that notwithstanding the geographical divide between the two countries, Armenia is keen to build on the friendly ties with Mexico and expand interaction in all areas of mutual interest.

The President pointed out that the potential of interstate relations has not been tapped in full during 26 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Nevertheless, as the President of the Republic of Armenia said, the recent surge of activity in Armenian-Mexican relations is quite encouraging.

Thankful for the reception, Ambassador Moreno assured of her firm determination to work actively and promote relations between the two countries in political, economic, cultural, educational and other areas of bilateral interest. The Ambassador emphasized that Armenia and Mexico have many shared principles and values, including the protection of human rights and the development of democracy.

The parties next touched upon the ongoing Armenian-Mexican cooperation in international structures. They highlighted the need for expanding and strengthening the legal framework and, in this context, hailed the tangible progress recorded in inter-parliamentary relations over the past few years.

The President of Armenia and the Mexican Ambassador highlighted the unique role of the Armenian community in Mexico, which is not so large, in terms of promoting and strengthening bilateral ties.
