President of the Republic of Armenia, President of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) Serzh Sargsyan met with the members of the RPA Women’s Council and the representatives of regional organizations in Tsakhkadzor within the framework of the seminar organized by the RPA Women’s Council. The meeting was also attended by women representing Artsakh’s political forces.

During the traditional seminar, the RPA-member women summed up the results of 2017, including the activities carried out by the Council and the regional organizations. They discussed the activities projected for 2018 and the tasks faced by the Women’s Council.

The meeting participants asked Serzh Sargsyan to present his views and positions on a number of important issues of topical concern, which related to Armenia’s foreign and home policies, including the socio-economic situation, the education reform, demographic issues and the steps to address them.

During the meeting, President Sargsyan handed in awards to some members of the RPA Women’s Council. The Medal of Gratitude was awarded to Women’s Council and National Assembly members Karine Atchemyan and Margarit Yesayan for active participation in the social and political life of Armenia and law-making processes.

A group of RPA Women’s Council members were awarded Republican Party diplomas, letters of appreciation and souvenirs for public and political activities.

The President attached importance to the traditional meetings with the RPA Women’s Council which, in his opinion, give the opportunity to discuss issues of interest to the participants of the meeting, address priority and topical issues high in our State’s domestic and foreign policy agenda, party proceedings and programs implemented by RPA-member women.

Taking the opportunity, Serzh Sargsyan congratulated those present and all Armenian women on the upcoming holiday, wishing them infinite happiness, success in work and private life. The Head of State stressed that women play a key role in ensuring family cohesion and progress in the country. Noting that women’s capabilities are not fully used in our country yet, President Sargsyan said there is still much to be done in this field.

On the occasion of the holiday, the President donated to some of the women present copies of the illustrated and magnificent edition of “Encyclopedia of Knowledge” as published by one of Armenia’s printing houses, a copy of which he had been offered recently on the Book Day. Serzh Sargsyan expressed the hope that the Encyclopedia would be useful and interesting to their family members.

The members of the RPA Women’s Council thanked the President for quite an interesting and fruitful meeting, as well as for keeping women’s issues in the spotlight. On behalf of the Council, they handed him handmade gifts made by the Togh village art school students in Hadrout region of Artsakh.
