Newly appointed Italian Ambassador hands credentials to President of Armenia

Newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Italian Republic to the Republic of Armenia Vincenzo del Monaco presented today his credentials to President Serzh Sargsyan.

Congratulating the Ambassador on assumption of office, the President of Armenia wished him every success and expressed the hope that Vincenzo del Monaco would contribute to the furtherance of the traditional friendly Armenian-Italian relations that stem from the depths of centuries, and promoting multifaceted cooperation between the two countries.

President Sargsyan and Ambassador Vincenzo del Monaco expressed a common view that the high-level Armenian-Italian interstate relations are based on solid historical foundations and the rich cultural heritage of the two peoples. However, they noted that the potential and expectations for developing relations are much greater. “We need to identify this potential in order to increase trade turnover between the two countries, intensify the political dialogue, strengthen the cultural ties and, in general, our relations in all spheres of activity,” the President stressed.

Ambassador Vincenzo del Monaco assured that he would do his utmost to live up to the trust he has earned in a bid to strengthen and deepen relations with Italy’s reliable partner Armenia in both bilateral and multilateral formats, including in the framework of international organizations.

Taking the opportunity, the Ambassador praised the Armenian community of Italy which, in his opinion, has gone a long way toward developing his country’s social, political, economic and cultural life, and has always made a valuable contribution to the strengthening of Armenian-Italian relations.
