President meets with Young Scientists Support Program’s managerial staff

Today, President Serzh Sargsyan met with the leadership of the Young Scientists Support Program (YSSP). The meeting was attended by program consultant, Minister of Education and Science Levon Mkrtchyan.

The young scientists reported on the activities carried out in 2017 within the framework of the above-mentioned program under the auspices of the President of Armenia, summarized the work done in 2012-2017 and referred to future activities.

Introducing the activities carried out in 2017, the program coordinators divided them into five key areas: providing young scholars with financial support for international scientific trips, assistance with the holding of symposia, schools and seminars, provision of grants, financial support for publications of young scientists’ research papers in authoritative scientific periodicals and financial support for organizing the Effective Young Researcher contest.

Meant to promote the development of science and research capacity in Armenia, as well as young scientists’ creativity, the program fully complies with its purpose, and is a great incentive for those young people wishing to engage in research activities.

The young scientists in attendance thanked the President of Armenia for continued support provided all the way through the project implementation. Serzh Sargsyan assured that considering the importance and effectiveness of the program, it would be continued ahead, and urged the youth to expand the program with new ideas and initiatives. The meeting participants once again highlighted the importance and the need for a generation change in science.

The young scientists were pleased to note that they could see a positive shift in this field in recent years, and went on to assure that they would continue endeavoring with the same sense of commitment and responsibility, involving new partners and promoting the development of science in the country.
