Message of condolences by president Serzh Sargsyan on the demise of Sergei Mergelian

I received the news on demise of the renowned Armenian scientist, academician Sergei Mergelian with great sorrow.

Sergei Mergelian made an enormous contribution to the development of science in Armenia. Scientific and industrial organizations founded and directed by him elevated science in Armenia and her international standing to a new height.

I am confident that new generations of the Armenian scientists will remember with gratitude his great activities in the areas of science, administration, and education.

I express my sincere condolences to the family and friends of Sergei Mergelian, as well as to his colleagues-mathematicians and students.
