President Armen Sarkissian sent a letter of condolences on the demise of the national figure and philanthropist Louis Manoogian-Simone.
The letter reads:
“I learned with great pain and sorrow the news on the demise of the dear daughter of our nation, national figure, and philanthropist Louis Manoogian-Simone.
This is a huge loss for Armenia, Artsakh and world-spread Armenian nation since Mrs. Manoogian-Simone had the closest relations with everything we call Armenia and Armenian, constantly by our side and among us.
As a worthy daughter of her patriotic parents – the National Hero of Armenia Alex Manoogian and Mrs. Mari Manoogian, as the President of the AGBU and philanthropist, her services to the Fatherland, Armenian Apostolic Church, and Armenians all over the world are truly exceptional in their scope and substance.
Since Armenia’s independence, Armenia and Artsakh have become the targets of her activities and Mrs. Manoogian-Simone remained true to the mission up to the end of her life. As the years-long President of the Armenian General Benevolent Union, member of the Board of Trustees of the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund and its honorary member, she initiated and implemented multiple programs in Armenia, Artsakh and Spyurk.
Comprehensive works and reputation of this Grand Dame transcend the borders of the national and presents our nation in its best at the international level.
At this difficult moment of all-national loss, I express my sincere and deep condolences to the family and friends of Louis Manoogian-Simone, to her brother Mr. Richard Manoogian, three children, two grandchildren, to the Armenian General Benevolent Union and share our common grief.
God bless her soul.”
