President Vahagn Khachaturyan’s message of condolence on the passing of Nikita Simonyan
“I was saddened to learn about the death of Nikita Simonyan, a legend of Armenian and Soviet football.
His life and work have left a deep mark on our sporting history. Nikita Simonyan’s decades-long contributions played a significant role in the formation of Armenian football, in enhancing its reputation, and in strengthening sports culture. His life experience, integrity, and image as a thoughtful coach have passed on to generations a sense of dedication to work and the will to win.
Nikita Simonyan’s connection with the spirit of Ararat-73 and its symbolic victories is especially noteworthy. For decades, those victories have been a source of inspiration, unity, and the rise of national dignity within Armenian society. The legacy he leaves behind has awakened in thousands of children and young people a love for football, a healthy lifestyle, and the noble spirit of fair competition.
I extend my deepest condolences to the Simonyan family, relatives, and all those who appreciate his contributions.
His memory will forever remain vivid in the pages of Armenian sports history.”
