Congratulatory address by President Serzh Sargsyan on the occasion of Victory and Peace Day
Dear Compatriots,
Dear Veterans,
I congratulate you on the occasion of Victory and Peace Day.
Victorious conclusion of the Great Patriotic War was a historic event for our nation and our country, which signaled a new beginning, a powerful impetus to elevate our economy and culture to a new level through peaceful and creative work. Our nation spared no effort to achieve this victory. The war claimed many victims, whose memory will be honored also by our children. The Armenian nation gave heroes and military leaders, whose heroic deeds will inspire this and future generations as a bright example of patriotism and martial talent.
Destiny determined for the same day in 1992 to witness yet another victory in the history of the Armenian nation. Liberation of Shushi bestowed glory and honor on the courageous Armenian warriors. It was our response to those, who had unleashed ethnic cleansing, massacres and war against our people. The Armenian nation is resolute to live free, and we will not tolerate any kind of violence against us.
Dear Compatriots,
Today, we bow to the immortal memory of those, who made the May victories a reality. They paid with their blood for our nation’s right to live and develop, to have this historic opportunity and great prospects. We are eternally grateful to them.
Once again, I congratulate all of us on this great holiday. We are proud with our victories and will reinforce them with our inspired work.
