On the occasion of the 21st anniversary of Armenia’s independence, President of France François Hollande sent a congratulatory message to the President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan

The message states:

“Distinguished Mr. President,

I am glad to convey to You and entire Armenian nation my best wishes on the occasion of Armenia’s National Holiday and wish happiness, prosperity and success.

Armenia can be proud of the journey it has made after independence. Your country has succeeded in advancing on the road towards democracy and prosperity, strengthening at the same time its position on the international arena.
Special relations between France and Armenia are deeply anchored in history and are signified by the friendship between the French and Armenian people. I wish to carry on with the mission undertaken twenty years ago and aimed at the construction of the profuse and trustworthy relations between our two countries in all areas without exception.

I also take this opportunity to salute Your resolve to make possible the continuation of the process of negotiations aimed at the resolution of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict. France, as a member of the Minsk Group, attaches the utmost importance to that.

I am glad that will welcome you in Paris soon and that we will have the opportunity to continue our discussions.

Please accept, Honorable Mr. President, the assurances of my highest esteem.”
