Congratulatory message by President Serzh Sargsyan on the occasion of Police Day

Respected police staff and veterans,

I congratulate you on Police Day. In the person of you, the people of the Republic of Armenia have an established and firm state institution. You implement your mission fully and with dignity.

It is no secret that in any country, particularly in Armenia the work of the police is always in the center of a society's attention. Hence a policeman's behavior and manners are directly related to the image of a country or a state. In this regard, you carry an additional responsibility. It should be noted that our police have made positive progress in recent times. This is a result of a long chain of reforms accomplished successfully in the police service. Moreover, it is a result of a psychological change occurring among our society. Not only the society changes its attitude positively toward a policeman, but also a policeman changes his attitude toward the society. Of course, we are still far from the desirable target, but I hope that we embark on a right road and continue making achievements.

The Armenian citizens trusted you the protection of their property and public order. Step by step you prove yourselves as people who deserve that trust. Unfortunately, there are still individuals who abuse that trust. I am convinced that you will be cruel to such manifestations and will exclude the disrepute of policemen’s shoulder boards. We already notice such a decisive stance adopted among you.

Congratulating you once again on this professional holiday I wish you good health, successes in seeing your difficult service and I wish you always comply with the demands of the time and be on modern lines in terms of your professional training and your principles.
