President Sargsyan participated at the commemorative events dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the 1988 earthquake
On December 7, President Serzh Sargsyan participated at the memorial service and the special Liturgy presided over by His Holiness, Catholicos of All Armenians Garegin II at the Gyumri’s “Seven Wounds” church.
At 11.41am sharp, at the precise time when 20 years ago the horrid tragedy took place, a minute’s silence was observed throughout Armenia in commemoration of the victims of the earthquake.
The President of Armenia participated at the unveiling of the monument dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the earthquake and placed a wreath at the memorial. Serzh Sargsyan also made a statement.
Afterwards, the President of Armenia visited the secondary school of Aygabats village, and participated at the ceremony of naming the school after Alexan Kirakossian.
