President Serzh Sargsyan visited the Ministry of Emergency Situations

Today, President Serzh Sargsyan visited the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES), observed ceremonial parade dedicated to the 20th anniversary of founding of the emergency response structure in Armenia and Day of the Rescue Worker. He congratulated all those working in the system with their professional holiday.

By the Presidential decree, on the occasion of the holiday, the Deputy Head of the Rescue Services at the RA Ministry of Emergency Situations Astvatsatur Petrossian was awarded with the “Services provided to the Motherland” first degree medal. The Chairman of the Civil Defense without Borders non-governmental organization, French firefighter and rescuer Bernard Janine was distinguished with the Medal of Honor.

At the Ministry of Emergency Situations, President Serzh Sargsyan was demonstrated a movable station which works through the remote control radio-modem gas generator, which can be used to fight hail, fog and scatter low clouds, as well as to stop abundant and continuous precipitation. A special rescue unit gave a demonstration performance.

The President visited also the newly established crisis management center and area of 911 services where he was introduced the possibilities of the emergency situation management through the modern programming.

Serzh Sargsyan familiarized also with the working conditions at the new nine-story building of the Ministry which is currently under construction.
