President Serzh Sargsyan made today a tour of Yerevan. First, the President of Armenia visited Heratsi n. 1 hospital compound of Yerevan’s Mkhitar Heratsi State Medical University, where reforms are being conducted in the educational as well as medical areas aimed at the further improvement of the medical services. President Sargsyan toured the newly renovated medical departments of the compound and familiarized with the works and provided services.

During the tour, the President was informed that the desolate territory of the Heratshi n. 1 hospital compound has been entirely renovated. Two floors of the compound have been renovated to impart modern methods to the students and to create opportunities for the specialists to use advanced technologies. Surgical clinics and eight operating rooms that once were in a bad shape, have been totally renovated are brought together on these two floors.

A clinic of general therapy, centers for diabetes treatment and periodic peritonitis are located on the third floor of the therapeutic unit of the Heratshi n. 1 hospital compound. Overall, 2,520 square meters of territory have been renovated and investments of over 421 million AMD have been done. It was noted that all financial investments have been done through the funds of the Yerevan State Medical University.

After touring the hospital compound, at the Republic Square of the capital Serzh Sargsyan familiarized with the capabilities of the buses which have been imported from China to improve regular transportation in Yerevan. The buses will be introduced gradually into the transportation system of the city and in keeping with Yerevan’s new network of the public ground transportation will to the greatest possible extent relieve flows of the passenger transport. The buses have been imported in accordance with the agreement reached during President Sargsyan’s April, 2010 visit to the People’s Republic of China. Two hundred forty-nine Higer buses, which have 22 seats, can transport up to 45 passengers, are equipped with modern technical devises and air-conditioning. The middle part of the bus is designed for the persons with disabilities. The President was informed that twenty-four buses before the end of the year will be equipped with special devises allowing the persons on the wheel-chairs to board the bus.

President Serzh Sargsyan took one of the buses to travel from the Republic Square to the Shahumian Square where he familiarized with the renovated Haypost vehicles presented by Armenia’s national postal operator. The concessional manager of Haypost Ltd and the management of the company told Serzh Sargsyan about reforms conducted in Haypost, including works aimed at the improvement of the postal services provided to the population.

It was noted that the current stage of Haypost modernization includes introduction of the up-to-date systems for the modeling of the postal services, which envisages large-scale introduction and use of information technologies, modernization and renovation of the basic means, retraining of the personnel, introduction of new devices and technical means, development and offer of new services, upgraded level of services.

To implement the forthcoming programs aimed at the modernization of Haypost infrastructure, the Government of Armenia and the Concessional Management are forming a new model for Haypost administration which is based on a Master Plan for modernization. According to the leadership of the renewed Haypost Company, communication on the territory of the Republic of Armenia and with the individuals abroad will be conducted most efficiently.
