Working visit of President Serzh Sargsyan to Lithuania

President Serzh Sargsyan, who is the Republic of Lithuania on a working visit, on November 28 in Vilnius participated at the meeting of the leaders of the European Peoples Party and Eastern Partnership states.

The meeting, which is initiated by the EPP on the eve of the Summit, will review the preliminary works and the agenda of the Summit and will discuss issues related to the cooperation between EU and Eastern Partnership member states after the Vilnius Summit.

In the evening, President Serzh Sargsyan participated at the official dinner hosted by the President of the Republic of Lithuania in honor of the Heads of State and government of the Eastern Partnership member states.

On November 29, at the Third Summit of the Heads of State of the Eastern Partnership countries in Vilnius the Republic of Armenia and European Union made a Joint Statement.

President Serzh Sargsyan, who is in the Republic of Lithuania on a working visit, on November 29 in Vilnius held a number of meetings in bilateral format. Minutes ago, President Sargsyan concluded his meeting with the President of France François Hollande who has arrived to Vilnius to participate at the Third Summit of the Heads of State of Eastern Partnership.

The parties noted with satisfaction the high level of the Armenian-French political dialogue and underscored that the development of relations between the two friendly states is substantially promoted by frequent reciprocal visits, efficient cooperation in different areas as well as by the cooperation in the framework of the International Organization of Francophonie and in international settings.

Presidents Serzh Sargsyan and François Hollande stressed also the importance of the dynamically developing decentralized cooperation and contacts between the business communities of the two countries. Serzh Sargsyan underlined that all this promotes also a successful trade and economic cooperation which is testified by the fact that with regard to the investments in Armenia, France among the EU countries holds domineering position.

The Presidents of Armenia and France concurred that there is still great potential for deepening and expanding bilateral trade and economic cooperation and it is necessary to work jointly towards that end.

The interlocutors spoke also about Armenia-EU cooperation and exchanges views on regional issues.

In Vilnius, President Serzh Sargsyan met with the Prime Minister of Spain Mariano Rajoy.

Serzh Sargsyan and Mariano Rajoy discussed issues pertinent to the agenda of the Armenian-Spanish relations and possible areas for the deepening of bilateral cooperation. The President of Armenia noted that Armenia attaches great importance to the development of the political dialogue with Spain and strengthening of cooperation in trade, economic and other areas.

The parties stressed the importance of invigorating reciprocal visits of different levels, cooperation in the multilateral format, in the framework of international organizations, particularly, at the UN.

In Vilnius President Sargsyan met with the President of the EU European and Social Committee (EESC) Henri Malosse.

Henri Malosse expressed desire to deepen relations and cooperation of his Committee with Armenia. President Sargsyan expressed readiness on behalf of Armenia to enhance cooperation with the EESC and to get actively involved in the programs carried out by the Committee.
