Today the newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of South Africa, Andres Venter (residence in Kiev) presented his credentials to President Serzh Sarkissian

The President of Armenia congratulated the Ambassador on his nomination and noted that Armenia attaches priority to the development of relations with the African states and with the Republic of South Africa in particular. Serzh Sarkissian hailed the balanced position of South Africa on the Armenia-related issues that are being discussed in different international structures.

The newly appointed Ambassador said that he observed in the programs of the Armenian Government a number of issues, which resemble those existing in his country. Common issues provide an opportunity to better understand each other and may serve a good base for future cooperation.

According to President Sarkissian, when there are common approaches there are sure to be common interests and incentives for cooperation. In this regard, he underlined the importance of mutual visits and exchange of information which will allow to define the areas of future cooperation.

In President’s opinion, a small but active Armenian community of South Africa can also become an additional link bringing the two countries closer together.
