President Serzh Sarkissian makes a working visit to Djermuk

Today President Serzh Sarkissian visited Djermuk to observe the first hand the present situation and hear about the problems of the resort.

The President of Armenia discussed those issues at the meeting with the local administration and representatives of the Government. At the meeting presented were the blueprint of the town and its zoning plan. Participants of the meeting spoke also about the long-term development program of the resort which will allow to turn Djermuk into a tourist center.

“Today we are discussing major issues, however the problems, which demand everyday attention, should be addressed starting now,” the President of Armenia noted, speaking about the strategy of the even development of rural areas.

“Armenia should able to provide contemporary recreation services to the citizens of Armenia, as well as to the tourists. From this point of view we should be competitive in the region,” Serzh Sarkissian stated during the meeting and stressed that this would be the main course of actions for the coming years.

The Head of State assigned concrete tasks to the members of the Government on a number of directions.

The President of Armenia walked the streets of the town and participated at the ground laying ceremony of the future “Hayat Spa” hotel compound.

The prospects of development of winter tourism in Djermuk will become more practical with the construction of the first line of the cableway. Serzh Sarkissian visited also the “ground zero” of the cableway construction site and observed the works.
