President Serzh Sargsyan received former Prime Minister of Ukraine, leader of the Party of the Regions Viktor Yanukovich
Today, President Serzh Sargsyan received former Prime Minister of Ukraine, leader of the Party of the Regions Viktor Yanukovich. He has arrived to Armenia to participate at the commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the 1988 earthquake.
In 1988, Viktor Yanukovich was directing the “Donbastransremont” enterprise which took active part in the rescue and recovery efforts following the earthquake.
The President of Armenia expressed his gratitude to V. Yanukovich for his partaking in the reconstruction of Spitak.
The sides discussed also development of the Armenian-Ukrainian relations. President Sargsyan noted with satisfaction that Ukraine is one of Armenia’s major trade and economic partners. They highlighted also the importance of a full realization of the existing potential in the humanitarian, cultural, and scientific areas. The parties stressed the unique role of the Armenian-Ukrainian community in the development of the bilateral relations.
