President Serzh Sargsyan to pay an official visit to Bulgaria

By the invitation of the President of the Republic of Bulgaria, Georgi Prvanov, the President of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan will leave on December 10 for a two-day official visit to Sofia.

The same day, there will take place the official ceremony of welcoming the Armenian President and his meeting with the Bulgarian counterpart Georgi Prvanov. The meeting will be followed by the negotiations in the extended format, after which the two Presidents will sign a number of documents. The Presidents of Armenia and Bulgaria will also give a joint press conference. Presidents Serzh Sargsyan and Georgi Prvanov will adopt a joint Communiqué on the results of the visit. They are also expected to sign a Memorandum of Understanding on organizing and conducting Days of Bulgaria in Armenia in 2009 and Days of Armenia in Bulgaria in 2010, a working plan on cooperation in the area of state governance for 2009-2014, the agreement on cooperation in the area of archives administration, as well as a Protocol on introducing changes in the bilateral agreement on the exclusion of double taxation of income and property.

The two Presidents are also expected to attend the opening of the Armenian-Bulgarian Business Forum.

During his two-day official visit, the President of Armenia will have a working dinner with the Prime Minister of Bulgaria, Sergei Stanishev, will hold a meeting with the Chairman of the National Assembly of Bulgaria, Georgi Pirinski, and will lay a wreath at the memorial to the Unknown Soldier.

In the National Gallery for Foreign Arts, Presidents Serzh Sargsyan and Georgi Prvanov will be present at the opening of Sergei Parajanov’s exhibition of collages.

The President of Armenia will also visit the Embassy of Armenia in Sofia.
