President Sargsyan invited a working meeting
Today, President Sargsyan invited a working meeting to summarize the results of the last year’s social and economic programs implemented in the marzes of Armenia, to bring up current problems, as well as to discuss issues related to the coordination of the works in the upcoming months and the enhancement of the ongoing activities. Present at the meeting were the Speaker of the National Assembly, the Prime Minister of Armenia, the Vice Prime Minister, the Ministers of Energy and Natural Resources, Agriculture, Urban Development, and the Heads of the marzes.
Opening the meeting, the President of Armenia made a number of observations, inviting the attention of the Government and the Heads of the regional administration to the necessity to complete the scheduled works in proper time. Serzh Sargsyan stressed as inadmissible delays and sluggishness in snow cleaning works in Yerevan, the administrative centers, or in any other community of the country. “In some division of the Government there exists a work style which I am not happy with at all. We must eradicate that work style once and for all, i.e. dealing with the problems only when they have already arisen, to follow the events, so to speak” noted the President of Armenia.
Carrying on with the examples, President Serzh Sargsyan spoke about the delays in paying of salaries registered recently in some secondary schools, describing as unacceptable and strange the fact that in spite of all budgetary allocations being paid on time, because of some directors in educational institutions and mid-level officials, who failed to fulfill their obligations in signing contracts or filling out the paper work in due time, a number of teaching staff did not get their pay checks in time. President Serzh Sargsyan directed to get rid of these practices for good.
The President of Armenia spoke also about the process of getting ready for the agricultural spring works, “This year we must pay ten times more attention to the rural areas, to our farmers, to those who make produce and supplies. Both the Government and I will be paying great attention to that issue and we should be able, and why not, to mitigate the consequences of the global crisis on our economy through this work as well,” said the President of Armenia.
The President of Armenia instructed to introduce precise indicators for the evaluation of the efficiency of the activities of the local governance bodies and their leaders. Serzh Sargsyan directed the marzpets to be more active and to serve as a liaison between the Government’s program aimed at the development of small and medium enterprises on one hand and local business initiatives and programs on the other hand, viewing creation of new jobs as the primary objective.
Speaking about large-scale construction planned this year in the marzes of Shirak and Lori, the President of Armenia instructed to compare the capacity of the labor force in the mentioned marzes with the amount of works and if necessary to involve the workers from other areas of the Republic.
At the meeting the President of Armenia was reported on the process of the spring agricultural works, on the social and economic situation in the marzes, on fostering and assisting local business initiatives, on the activities aimed at the eliminations of the existing inadequacies in tax collection in the communities, as well as on the progress of the programs planned for this year.
