President Serzh Sarsgsyan received the Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, David Bakradze

Today, President Serzh Sarsgsyan received the delegation headed by David Bakradze, the Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, who arrived to Yerevan on official visit.

President Sargsyan and David Bakradze underlined the exiting high level of the interstate relations, historically close ties and strong friendship of the peoples of Armenia and Georgia. The President of Armenia stressed the importance of the intensive contacts, underscored the exceptional importance of the interparliamentary cooperation and noted that visits such as this one contribute greatly to the further deepening of the existing friendship.

The two sides spoke about the process of implementation of the agreements reached during President Sargsyan’s official visit to Georgia. The parties noted that facilitation of transport communications and simplified border crossing regime, as well as the implementation of the planned programs in the customs administration and other areas will promote further development of the Armenian-Georgian economic relations.

Underscoring that any problem between Armenia and Georgia can be solved through the dialogue and discussions, the two sides stressed the necessity of mutual restraint and balanced approaches with regard to the issues of vital importance for our two nations.

The President of Armenia and the Speaker of the Georgian Parliament exchanged also views on possible cooperation in the framework of the EU Eastern Partnership policy and the steps undertaken by the two states under the ongoing current global economic and financial crisis.
