President Serzh Sargsyan met with the Minister of the Foreign Affairs of the UAE Abdullah Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan

On June 21 President Serzh Sargsyan met with the Minister of the Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates Abdullah Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan who has arrived to Armenia on a working visit.

Stressing the importance of the Minister’s first visit to Armenia, the President of Armenia said, “Armenia is deeply interested in deepening relations with the UAE and I am confident that there is sufficient potential for it.” Serzh Sargsyan also noted the significance of the fact that nothing stays in the way of developing those relations.

The Head of the UAE Foreign Office expressed gratitude for warm reception and stressed his country’s readiness to undertake concrete steps for enhancing relations with friendly Armenia. He underlined the necessity of making mutual visits more frequent and noted that it would allow to discuss all the possibilities and means that could be conducive to the expansion of the bilateral cooperation.

Speaking about economic relations President Sargsyan said that the UAE is one of the leading partners of Armenia in the Middle East region and that our country was striving to further deepen economic cooperation. The President of Armenia proposed the establishment of the joint intergovernmental commission, noting that it was a very efficient tool for the enhancement of bilateral relations and that Armenia has such experience with many countries.

During the meeting the President of Armenia and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates exchanged views on the security issues in the South Caucasus and the Middle East. Serzh Sargsyan briefly presented the latest developments in the NK peace process and the process of normalization of the Armenian-Turkish relations. President Sargsyan also acknowledged the balanced policy of the UAE regarding sensitive issues in our region.
