President Serzh Sargsyan received Apostolic Nuncio to Armenia, H. E. Archbishop Claudio Gugerotti

Today, President Serzh Sargsyan received Apostolic Nuncio to Armenia, H. E. Archbishop Claudio Gugerotti (residence in Tbilisi).

Archbishop Gugerrotti conveyed to the President of Armenia well wishes of Pope Benedict XVI.

Welcoming Archbishop Gugerotti, Serzh Sargsyan said that serving as Apostolic Nuncio in our country for many years he has put in his experience and knowledge into further development and invigoration of the relations between Armenia and Vatican.

The President of Armenia hailed Vatican’s role not only as a spiritual center but also as a proponent of human rights and ethical norms, the advocate of tolerance, understanding, and peace in the world.

President Sargsyan said that Armenia is greatly interested in the establishment of peace, security and stability in our region and believes that the current problems should be solved through a peaceful dialogue rather than through military force and in all her actions in driven by this belief.

The President of Armenia and the Apostolic Nuncio spoke about relations between Armenia and Vatican and supported the idea of their further promotion. Serzh Sargsyan welcomed also the established cooperation between the Holy See and the Armenian Apostolic Church. In his turn, Archbishop Gugerotti said that is one of the most prominent examples of cooperation.
