The newly appointed Ambassador of Brazil to Armenia presented her credentials to President Serzh Sargsyan

Today, the newly appointed Ambassador of Brazil to Armenia Ms. Marcela Maria Nikodemos presented her credentials to President Serzh Sargsyan.

The President of Armenia congratulated the Ambassador on her nomination and said that Armenia is interested in deepening relations with Brazil and that there are solid base and great potential for it. According to Serzh Sargsyan, there are at least four prerequisites which allow to expand Armenia-Brazil cooperation. In particular, the two states have no disagreements of any kind, Brazil is a powerful state with strong economy, both states produce goods that can be of interest for each other and finally, Armenian community of Brazil is the most important factor linking the two countries. President Sargsyan expressed gratitude to the government of Brazil for providing all the opportunities for our compatriots to settle and develop, preserving their identity and culture. “We are deeply thankful to all those countries which lent a hand in difficult times and created favorable conditions for living and creating,” the President of Armenia stressed.

Ambassador Nikodemos noted with satisfaction that Brazil is the first Latin American country to open embassy in the South Caucasus, particularly, in Armenia and is determined to take practical steps to develop bilateral cooperation. Madam Ambassador invited special attention to the contribution of the small but very presentable Armenian community of Brazil to the country’s development.

The two sides concurred that recently the trade turnover between Armenia and Brazil has registered impressive growth and stressed the importance of continued work in that direction.

President Sargsyan welcomed also efficient cooperation of the two countries in the international structures and Brazil’s balanced approach towards sensitive regional issues.

Serzh Sargsyan assured the Ambassador of Brazil that throughout her tenure she would receive utmost support of the Armenian state structures.
