President Serzh Sargsyan received the Head of Russia’s Federal Security Service Alexander Bortnikov

Today, President Serzh Sargsyan received the Head of Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) Alexander Bortnikov, who has arrived to Armenia to participate at the joint consultations of the Heads of the Armenian and Russian security services.

President Sargsyan stressed with satisfaction strategic nature of the Armenian-
Russian partnership, regular contacts in different areas, and the high level of political dialogue, which testify to the expanding cooperation of the two states in various areas.

The President of Armenia underlined the importance of cooperation of the security structures of the two states and their regular contacts and noted that it contributes to the development of adequate measures for meeting current challenges and threats and a higher level of efficiency in fighting them.

The Head of the Russian Security Service said that he was satisfied with the cooperation with the Armenian security services.

The parties talked about the issues being discussed at the joint consultations. They expressed confidence that they were extremely important and touch upon the interests and concerns of the two countries.

The interlocutors spoke also about the regional security issues. President Serzh Sargsyan praised Russia’s stabilizing role in the region.
