President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan and US State Secretary Hillary Clinton had a telephone conversation

In the afternoon of December 10, President Serzh Sargsyan spoke on the phone with the US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. The call was initiated by the American side.

Secretary Clinton informed the President of Armenia on the details of the Washington meeting of the President of the United States Barak Obama with the Prime Minister of Turkey Recep Erdogan. The US Secretary of State stressed once again that the US would continue its steadfast support for the speedy normalization of the Armenian-Turkish relations without preconditions. President Sargsyan asked the US Secretary of State to convey his gratitude to President Obama for the untiring assistance of the US in facilitating the Armenia-Turkey normalization process. The President of Armenia reiterated the readiness of the Armenian side to adhere to her international obligations and move forward in the process of normalization and expressed hope the Turkish side would also manifest readiness and responsibility regarding the matter.
During the conversation discussed were also issues related to the Nagorno Karabakh settlement. The US Secretary of State reiterated position of her country for a peaceful and lasting solution, noting at the same time that the NK settlement and the Armenian-Turkish normalization were regarded by the United State as two separate processes and said that progress on any of them would promote peace and stability in the region.
