President Serzh Sargsyan received the world-famous Serb director and musician Emir Kusturica
On March 6, President Serzh Sargsyan received the world-famous Serb director and musician Emir Kusturica. This is the first visit of the renowned film director to Armenia. Yesterday, on March 5 his The No Smoking Orchestra performed here, in Yerevan.
“I am happy to welcome you on the Armenian land. Your visit is a significant event for our country. Our two nations have many similarities brought about by our historical past, and your art and your music are very close to the hearts of our people,” President Serzh Sargsyan said.
Emir Kusturica spoke to the President of Armenia about his impressions of this visit. “Armenia is a very beautiful country. There many parallels in the tragic history of our two nations, and I am really happy to be here – this visit gives me an opportunity to express everything I feel and to strengthen the friendship of our two nations,” the world-famous director stressed.
Emir Kusturica told President Sargsyan about his forthcoming artistic plans. He also said that he would do his best to support the Golden Apricot film festival.
