The newly appointed Ambassador of Argentine to Armenia presented his credentials to President Sargsyan

Today, the newly appointed Ambassador of Argentine to the Republic of Armenia Miguel Angel Cuneo presented his credentials to President Serzh Sargsyan.

President Sargsyan congratulated the Ambassador on his appointment and said that Armenia attaches great importance to her relations with Argentine and is interested in their further deepening. Noting that Argentine was the first country in Latin America where Armenia opened embassy, Serzh Sargsyan stressed with satisfaction that bilateral relations were developing in the atmosphere of mutual trust. President Sargsyan expressed hope that the newly appointed Ambassador would play a significant role in the strengthening of the Armenian-Argentinean cooperation and assured that in his activities Ambassador Cuneo might rely on the utmost support of the Armenian state structures.

Ambassador Cuneo said that his country was attaching great importance to the development of cooperation with Armenia which is proved by the fact that its first Embassy in the South Caucasus region Argentine would be opening in Armenia. The official ceremony of the inauguration of the Argentinean Embassy in Yerevan will take place on May 21 with the participation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Argentine Jorge Taiana. The Ambassador also informed that he had been present at the initiation of the Armenian-Argentinean relations in 1992 and participated in the drafting of the protocol on the establishment of diplomatic relations between Armenia and Argentina and has been one of the promoters of relations with Armenia ever since.

President Sargsyan and Ambassador Cuneo underscored that the enhancement of the Armenian-Argentinean economic relations was pivotal for the expansion of bilateral relations. They noted that the legal framework of the relations was pretty comprehensive and could serve as a strong foundation for moving the economic cooperation forward.

The parties underlined the role of the Armenian-Argentinean community in the development of bilateral relations, noting that the community plays a bridging role between the two countries. It was also noted that Armenians in Argentine are actively involved in different areas of the country’s social life, and many of them have achieved remarkable success.

Speaking about cooperation in multilateral format, President Sargsyan hailed the balanced position of Argentine regarding the settlement of the NK issue.
