Today, the newly appointed Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Republic of Armenia Ibrahim Abd Al-Rahman Al-Mughaisib (residence in Tehran) presented his credentials to President Serzh Sargsyan.

The President of Armenia congratulated the Ambassador on his nomination and said that Armenia attaches great importance to the development of cooperation with Qatar and other Arab states. Serzh Sargsyan expressed hope that the forthcoming appointment of the Armenian Ambassador to the State of Qatar and more active work of the intergovernmental commission would lay foundation for efficient cooperation.

Ambassador Al-Mughaisib said that Qatar is interested in the opportunities to make investments in Armenia and intends to reach concrete agreements for cooperation in different areas by proposing high-level reciprocal visits.

The parties exchanged also views regarding the Nagorno Karabakh conflict. The President of Armenia said that Azerbaijan’s attempts to attach religious content to the conflict were unacceptable and expressed regret over the fact that some of Muslim countries support such attempts.

Ambassador Al-Mughaisib said that Qatar is convinced that the conflict should be resolved exclusively through the peaceful means and doesn’t believe that the conflict has religious background.
