President Sargsyan received President of the Russian Railroads OJSC Vladimir Yakunin

Today, President Serzh Sargsyan received the Concessional Manager of the Armenian railways, President of the Russian Railroads OJSC Vladimir Yakunin.

At the meeting discussed were issues pertinent to the current situation with the Armenian railways, implementation of the provisions of the concession agreement and other issues of regional import.

The parties spoke, in particular, about the North-South railroad construction program which has economic, political and strategic implications not only for Armenia but also for other countries of the region since it will connect seaports of the Black Sea to Persian Gulf.

The President of Armenia and Vladimir Yakunin discussed also issues related to the responsibilities assumed by the Russia Railroads in the framework of the agreement signed with the Government of Armenia. Vladimir Yakunin assured that all the investment responsibilities would be honored this year and the Russian Railroads would continue with the planned activities aimed at the modernization and technical renovation of the Armenian railways.

The President of Armenia stressed the importance of the implementation of the investment programs by major Russian companies such as the Russian Railroads also from the viewpoint of strengthening and developing the Armenian-Russian strategic partnership.
