Distinguished Colleagues,
Dear Friends,

I cordially welcome you in Yerevan for the unofficial Summit of the CSTO. My special greetings go to Rosa Otumbaeva, who participates in the works of the CSTO for the first time.

Unofficial summits of the CSTO proved to be pretty efficient. By not limiting ourselves to a strict agenda and discussing various different issues we, as a rule, achieve good results.

Let’s recall, that it was only six months ago that the idea to create rapid response force was articulated in Borovo. Today, the Force is ready to accomplish tasks assigned to it. The first military exercises have been conducted, and the Force is getting ready for the next one.

I am confident that today too we will exchange views on the most pressing issues which present interest for the members states, on the enhancement of the CSTO potential and on the works aimed at the establishment of peace, security and stability in the area of the Organization’s responsibility.

With this regard, I wish us all fruitful work and give the floor to the President of the Council of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev.

The floor is yours, Mr. President.
